Technical Sales Engineer, Industrial Components

Technical Sales Engineer, Industrial Components, West Midlands. £25,000 Basic, £32,000 OTE + Car Allowance + Benefits. This is a largely Account Management role with a manufacturer of a wide range of industrial components sold into Original Equipment Manufacturers. Managing over 1000 active OEM accounts (350 of which have traded in the last 12 months) the role requires an ambitious, likeable and gregarious Account Manager with experience of selling into OEM's and the ability to get on with absolutely everyone and anyone!

With excellent marketing support and innovative products this manufacturer has a solid reputation for high quality equipment at a premium that is only 10-15% above far eastern components. The role is getting components specified into new machines and is typically dealing with design engineers and buyers. Occasionally the sale can be technical so an ability to read drawings, or perhaps having come through an engineering apprenticeship, could be useful.

Whilst the role is occasionally technical it requires an individual with a definite commercial streak that is a 'chameleon of a sales professional', i.e. someone that is able to laugh and joke with 'shop floor staff' yet also be able to sell a £30K annual rolling contract to supply at board level. Applications are welcomed from individuals working for an engineering distributor that sells into OEMs looking to work for a manufacturer and also internal sales staff with OEM experience looking for their first break into field sales. Ideal backgrounds would be selling components, power transmission, bearings, industrial components, castors, wheels, jigs, fixtures, moulded components, chain, control gear, drives, hydraulics, pneumatics, seals, valves, belts, fluid power, tools, hose, gaskets, gearboxes, etc. The prerequisite is proven experience of selling into OEMs.

As a person you will be trustworthy with a strong personality and an individual that always sells on value and quality rather than price. You will be competitive by nature with a winning spirit but as the role is heavily account management you will be the kind of sales professional that always puts the customer first. You will be self managing and be expected to use your own initiative to maximise opportunities on 'your patch'. However, as the role is largely account management and following inbound enquiries, it is not a heavily new business oriented role.
