'Security threat' deters mobile working

Sales jobs employees are being deterred from using mobile workstations because of potential security threats, a Hypertec survey has found.

Some 70 per cent of mobile workers are concerned about their work being viewed while they commute.

Four in ten opt not to work on busy trains altogether because of the privacy threat.

However, many sales jobs employees are no doubt aware that passengers often don't mean to breach their privacy.

Nearly all of those surveyed claimed they would happily take a peak at another commuters screen themselves, while two thirds described it as "human nature".

Meanwhile, a study by BT and Ciao suggests that those in office-based sales jobs would jump at the opportunity of mobile working.

According to the research, 22 per cent of workers see no more than 20 minutes of sunlight a day - a seemingly unappreciated luxury among mobile workers.
