Rhodes gives credit to mannequin entrepreneur
Fashion designer Zandra Rhodes has described how a successful entrepreneur inspired her to make her way in the fashion business.
Speaking to the Guardian, Rhodes said that her friendship with Adel Rootstein, who started mannequin company Adel Rootstein and Co, was an inspiration both personally and professionally.
Among Rootstein's most memorable characteristics was a "wonderfully awful honesty and directness" that led her to analyse every situation with a critical eye, Rhodes explained.
This was coupled with a commitment to pushing the boundaries and an innovative approach to commerce, the designer added, in comments that may interest sales directors looking to make their mark on the world of business.
Rhodes said of her mentor: "She was five years older than me and as I gradually got to know her she was someone I could go to with business problems."
Personnel Decision International recently named the attributes shared by chief executive officers, which included a lack of passive aggression and a lack of micro-management tendencies.
