Preparation 'key to change of career'
Jobseekers should take time to plan the direction of their future career in order to be successful in finding employment, it has been claimed.
According to career coach Roger Ingbretsen, apart from education and training, recruiters are looking for people who are 'employable' because that is in short supply in the jobs market.
He added: "Add to this attribute a solid understanding of the workplace, future 'sunrise' careers and the right skill-set, and your dream career can become a reality."
Mr Ingbretsen went on to say that those looking for jobs should decide how they can best match their strengths, skills, competencies and passion to employment, in preparing for a new or revitalised career.
Commenting on advice provided by the expert, one student from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, said: "I thought just getting a degree would assure me a good job, now I know it takes a lot more advanced planning."
This week, Steve Huxham, chairman of the Recruitment Society, claimed it may be easier for job candidates to lie on their CVs in the current economic climate.
