Rebrand yourselves, jobseekers told

Jobseekers need to be able to sell themselves in order to secure their ideal employment in the difficult economic climate, it has been claimed.

According to career strategist John Lees, candidates must learn how to re-brand themselves in the same way that companies do.

He added that the working environment has become increasingly pressurised due to long hours, demanding work cultures, organisations restructuring every year and job insecurity.

"All these factors make it essential that jobseekers learn that taking control is essential - before someone else does," Mr Lees added.

He went on to say that in order to get the job of their dreams, candidates should choose a field of work based on their passion and then communicate a message that they are the right person for the job to the appropriate organisations.

Last week, Clare Shuttlewood, a sales manager currently looking for work, wrote in Kenilworth Weekly News that jobseekers should strike the correct balance between preparation and spontaneity in order to be successful at interviews.
