Skills and positivity 'key in job search'

Constant enhancement of skills is the best way to gain and regain employment in the current job market, it has been claimed.

According to Irish Times, Brian Mooney, a former president of the Institute of Guidance Counsellors, maintains that self-belief and reacting positively with support groups such as recruitment agencies is also an important part of successfully finding employment.

Writing for the news provider, he added: "Maybe it's that we can't afford to take the sustainability of our employment for granted. We all need to upskill and retrain constantly."

Mr Mooney went on to say that that the ability to communicate effectively with potential employers, in writing or in person, is essential for jobseekers if they are to enter or re-enter employment in the uncertain recruitment market.

Earlier this week, coaching group Communication Downloads stated that job candidates should also try to develop greater spontaneity and work on their intuitive interactive skills when preparing for interviews.
