CV mistakes 'becoming more common'

By Paul Goatman

Mistakes in CVs are increasingly costing candidates employment positions, it has been stressed.

According to job application advice group Impressive Resumes, failing to find a role, such as a sales jobs position, can have a dramatic and negative effect on an individual.

Representative for the group Andrea Drew commented: "Over the last ten years I have noticed a trend whereby a jobseekers' mistakes in their resumes are costing them valuable opportunities."

Ms Drew went on to say that she has read many CVs over the years that have come across as boring and lifeless, and feels many jobseekers in today's competitive employment market are being unfairly overlooked due to their poorly-crafted resumes.

Earlier this week, recruitment specialist Careerfolk stated that recruiters generally care less about a candidate's objectives than what they can bring to the firm.

The group added that seemingly small job search mistakes are often enough to cost candidates the position.
