Education and marriage 'play big role' in sales recruitment

Re-employment prospects of people looking for sales jobs are being positively linked with education and marriage factors, according to a new report.

A report published by the Office for National Statistics also found that people who live in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland had a lower chance of leaving unemployment, with new figures now showing that the number of 18 to 24-year-old Scottish jobseeker's allowance claimants had risen by 75 per cent since 2007.

Using data from the British Household Panel Survey between 1991 and 2006, having an A-level improved sales recruitment prospects by 22 per cent compared with those who left school at 16, while having a degree improved those chances by 27 per cent.

Being married and owning a home were also positive factors when it came to getting employment in a sales job.

However, detrimental factors included living in council rented accommodation, which lowered the probability of re-employment by 32 per cent compared with those who rented privately.
