Sales jobs applicants 'expected to be Twitter literature'

Those looking at sales jobs are increasingly expected to use social networks such as Twitter to achieve their goals, an expert suggests.

Doug Platts, head of natural search at iCrossing, tells Revolution Magazine that this way of reaching customers will only continue to grow in importance.

He says that the recently announced deal between the social media platform, Google and Microsoft will see a large jump in the audience numbers using the application.

"The entire range of implications of these deals are, in the final analysis, still unknown, however it's safe to say that these announcements are a watershed for the industry," he states.

Mr Platts advises that those in sales jobs need to develop a Twitter strategy as soon as possible if they are to capitalise on this trend.

Rob Scott, managing director of sales recruitment specialist Aaron Wallis, recently warned those applying for sales jobs to be aware of the information available to prospective employees on social media websites.
