Sales recruitment success in the Scottish Borders

More than 50 young people will be hoping for sales recruitment success after the creation of jobs in the Scottish Borders.

A bid by Scottish Borders Council, in partnership with ten other local groups, has meant that funding has been secured from the Department of Work and Pensions Future Jobs Fund.

The fund aims to set up sales jobs and other employment for people between 18 and 24 years old who have been out of work and receiving Job Seeker's Allowance for more than ten months.

Councillor Vicky Davidson said the authority hoped to work on more bids to the fund, which is hoping to create about 3,000 jobs.

"In the current economic climate, it is difficult for young people to find employment and to compete with people who have the skills and experience employers are looking for," she added.

Other recent bids from Scotland will create nearly 300 sales recruitment opportunities, including 51 in Dundee and 31 in Sterling.
