Enthusiasm 'more effective than humour'
Those currently employed in sales jobs might be interested to know a recent survey has found enthusiasm is a more effective approach in the workplace than humour.
Commenting on the findings of the research, which was commissioned by T-Mobile, a spokeswoman for the organisation Julia Porter-Robinson claims this has always been the case.
She suggests humour has always been "very subjective" and so the reaction of others is unpredictable.
It is possible for humour to de-motivate co-workers, which she claims can happen even when it is well-intentioned.
"Most people welcome enthusiasm and an injection of energy," she asserts.
Ms Porter-Robinson adds: "Especially when it may seem that there are more challenges than reasons to celebrate."
The Workplace Motivation Report from T-Mobile was conducted on its behalf by Ipsos MORI and used a sample of 1,316 UK workers.
It identified what it claimed were eight worker roles which people corresponded to.
